On Wednesday 4 September, Semyon Bychkov conducts the opening of the Czech Philharmonic’s 2019-20 season marking the start of his second year as their Chief Conductor and Music Director. Broadcast live on Czech TV, the concert features music by Smetana, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich. Less than a week later, Bychkov and the Czech Philharmonic travel to London for their first appearance together performing the same programme at the BBC Proms. The performance on Tuesday 10 September will also be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

Following the release of The Tchaikovsky Project boxset on Decca Classics at the end of August, Semyon Bychkov and the Czech Philharmonic present the first of their four Tchaikovsky residencies in Prague on 13, 17 and 21 September as part of the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival. For the three all-Tchaikovsky programmes, they will be joined by soloists Kirill Gerstein (who also appears on the boxset), Gautier and Renaud Capuçon.
