On 24 October, Semyon Bychkov will return to the Royal Academy of Music to conduct the student orchestra side by side with the Czech Philharmonic in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride Overture. Semyon Bychkov, who was last year made an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music, will conduct the students of the RAM in Mahler’s Second Symphony at the Royal Festival Hall for the first time on Thursday 22 June. As part of the Snape Proms at Aldeburgh, Semyon Bychkov worked with the young musicians of the Britten-Pears Orchestra on Tchaikovsky’s Manfred Symphony and Piano Concerto No. 2 with soloist Kirill Gerstein.
